Our operating status announcements apply to federal employees in executive agencies located inside the Washington Capital Beltway. These determinations do not apply to employees of the U.S. Postal Service, the government of the District of Columbia, or private sector entities, including contractors. Employees working in Federal agency offices located outside of the Washington Capital Beltway must follow the operating status announcements issued by their agency. In rare circumstances, OPM will issue a Governmentwide operating status announcement that impacts the entire Federal workforce within the United States.
